Symposium Description

During this session, we will explore trends in cooling tower design, to increase energy efficiency and reduce water usage. We will also address the following topics:

  • Evaluate free cooling design and payback
  • Discuss advantages and disadvantages of using a closed circuit cooling tower
  • Cooling tower replacement & design efficiency considerations
  • Latest developments in reduced water usage and plume abatement

Instructor

Chief Technical Advisor - SPX Cooling Technologies

Kent Martens

Kent holds a BSME from Kansas State University and currently serves as chairman of the Industry Advisory Board for the Mechanical/Nuclear Engineering Department at KSU. He is a registered Professional Engineer in the State of Kansas. Kent's various roles during his 30 year career with SPX/Marley include; thermal ratings, product management, Sales/Marketing and management. Currently, he is responsible for developing customized cooling solutions for complex projects and training. Kent is a member of ASHRAE and is active in the Cooling Technologies Institute where he is Co-Chair of the Performance and Technology Committee.
